nostalgic-circumvention:

This is my brother Andrew, the first picture is about 8 years old, we were waiting for Santa at some parade thing and he got upset, so I attempted to cheer him up, and the other just a week old, he went in there only to meet Pluto, but asked me to take a picture with him and Goofy. He is diagnosed with Asperger disorder, a mild form of autism, and tourettes. He’s eleven years old and today my mom told me a story about how he decided to “prank call” a girl he has a crush on today. He got her number and called her a few times and then would hang up and then I guess he stopped when he heard her father in the background say “Who is that? Is that a boy?” He then asked my mom “How is she ever going to have a boyfriend if her dads also in the back listening?!”
My shy little brother is coming outta his shell so to speak.

If my brother doesn’t know you really well, he will be incredibly shy to you at first. He won’t look at you until he’s comfortable. He’ll only glance up at you and giggle if you say something funny. Due to his tourettes, if he’s mad he’ll begin to cry, scream, even swear like a sailor. It doesn’t matter if he’s at home or in public, if he’s upset, he’ll have an episode. If you don’t know my brother, his condition, or about autism, you’d probably find it very odd to see a kid react the way he does to certain situations or to talk to my parents the way he does when he’s upset. Sometimes he just won’t speak to anyone for extended periods of time. Not gonna lie, it’s kinda funny to see him yell “Shut up, bitch. I hate you.” to my parents when he’s upset, but nothing about him or autism is a joke. I will never ever take lightly to any type of autistic joke. Just because his condition makes him slightly different and the lifestyle he’ll have to live a little different than most, doesn’t mean he’s not “normal” or capable of doing anything ANYONE else can do. His reading level is that of a high school senior or first semester college student and he’s only eleven. His disability can’t hold him back. When he’s not upset he’s just like the other boys his age. He’s interested in wrestling, legos, violin, and I guess now girls too. He’s incredibly sweet when he wants to be and the cutest little thing with his bright blue eyes. :)
It’s not always easy dealing with someone who has autism, but I just want people to know how incredibly proud of him I am<3
